Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Jack Byrne cannot wait to get stuck in to his first full season as a Blue Square Premier full-time professional.

The 20-year-old came to Aggborough from Blue Square North outfit Redditch in March and has a year left on his contract, one of 10 players on the books for the campaign ahead.

Byrne has started as he meant to go on ever since coming on board, in what is his big chance in the game after serving the likes of Solihull Moors and Stratford on the non-league circuit.

His stirring displays in the middle of the park over 10 starts, including his first goal for the club, have made him a real contender to be a first-team fixture next season under manager Steve Burr.

And the youngster is beside himself with excitement waiting for his next adventure to begin.

He said: "As a player I want to succeed and do well and the first thing the gaffer told me when I came here is that he wants to do exactly the same, hopefully we can do that and push the club forward.

"There is so much to aim for and I am chomping at the bit to get back and get into the swing of things. I am looking forward to being around the place and with the rest of the lads once pre-season starts up.

"I love football, it's what I live for so I am looking forward to coming in and working hard."

Newport County were today revealed as the mystery club Harriers left-back Lee Baker is joining after turning down a new contract at Aggborough.

The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Blue Square Premier rivals.
