Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill has emerged as a potential summer target for Albion - but the Baggies have not made a bid.
The 27-year-old Wales international is potentially available in the summer fire sale at the KC Stadium and has been on the Baggies' radar for some time.
But reports from Hull today claiming Hawthorns officials had launched a £1.2million bid are wide of the mark.
The Tigers would be keen to land more than the reported price for the former Villa trainee, but any buyers would hope to cash in on the financial problems at the KC Stadium to drive down the price.
Hull are in huge debt following their relegation from the Premier League and are under pressure to lower their wage bill, to raise money to fund the club during the close season.
Albion are on the look-out for a goalkeeper this summer to compete with Scott Carson for the Hawthorns goalkeeping berth.
Myhill, who was born in the United States, has been watched in the past by Baggies scouts and was considered as a possible target.
But, contrary to morning reports, there has been no bid from The Hawthorns.
Out-of-contract Sunderland shot-stopper Marton Fulop has been considered as a potential recruit and they have watched Sheffield Wednesday's highly-rated Lee Grant on several occasions.
