Kidderminster Harriers are looking to build for the future this summer with a 'young and hungry' ethos on player recruitment into the club.

So far this summer, boss Steve Burr has brought AFC Telford defender Lee Vaughan, Redditch goalkeeper Danny Lewis and Stalybridge midfielder Keith Briggs to Aggborough.

All three have come from the Blue Square North and the semi-professional game, and will look to grasp their chance to be a full-time footballer with both hands.

The manager and his assistant Gary Whild are looking to youth, further evidenced by the decision last week to invite Young Player of the Year Joe Hull and striker Robert Thompson-Brown to join the first-team squad for pre-season training and the chance to earn a professional contract.

And Whild believes Harriers offer a good chance for any ambitious star in the making to further their careers with an established non-league club.

He said: "For any young and hungry player looking to prove himself, it's a fantastic opportunity to play at this level with a good club. If we can get a few local lads in as well, it all helps.

"If you look all around the clubs in any league, they are looking to release players and bring in the ones that they want. Steve came in last season after Christmas and it's difficult, because you want to bring your own people in.

"But the gaffer has got a great record in terms of being successful and playing football in the right way, that's a difficult thing to do."

Harriers would also like to remind supporters that this week is the last where season tickets can be bought at the 'Early Bird' discounted rates.

Adult tickets are available at £228, with over 65 124
