Hednesford have lost the second of their hotshot strikers this summer after Ross Dyer left the club to join Forest Green Rovers.

The 22-year-old has signed a one-year deal at the New Lawn, although the Pitmen will be entitled to a compensation fee because of the player's age.

Dyer follows 28-goal Tyrone Barnett, who has been handed a chance in the Football League with Macclesfield, out of the exit door at Keys Park this summer.

But the Pitmen skipper still doesn't know what league he will be playing in next year, as Rovers are trying to win a reprieve despite being relegated from the Blue Square Premier, with Salisbury fighting an order to be demoted for breaching league rules.

At worse it will be the Blue Square South, where the challenge will be to repeat the scoring form that saw him score 51 goals over two seasons in the Southern Premier.

For Rovers it's a case of second time lucky, after trying and failing to sign Dyer in January.

Club spokesman Colin Peake said: "Ross is a striker who has been in great demand.

"We will have to reach a compensation agreement with Hednesford, but our manager David Hockaday is pleased to have secured his signature."
