Kidderminster Harriers left-back Lee Baker should sign a new contract within the next few weeks after declaring his happiness to stay at Aggborough.

The 21-year-old has a new one-year deal on the table to extend his 20-month stay, after making his name in the first-team at Harriers since joining from Albion.

Baker has also been in receipt of another offer from a Blue Square Premier rival, but insists only one of the title challengers in the division or a call from the Football League could turn his head.

And the Bromsgrove-based defender expects to be signing a new contract to continue his development at Aggborough if that doesn't come to pass.

He said: "You can never say never, but if you were to ask me at the moment then I would be expecting to sign for Harriers within the next few weeks. I want to stay, I enjoy my football where I am and it's a good club.

"I don't see the point of leaving unless it's for bigger and better things, which at this level is either an Oxford or a Luton. My ultimate ambition is the same as everyone else, I want to play in the Football League as soon as possible.

"But unless that is going to come up, I am happy where I am."

Harriers have also handed two of last season's youth team squad the chance to earn themselves a professional deal for next season.

Young Player of the Year Joe Hull, an 18-year-old central defender, and striker Robert Thompson-Brown, also 18, will join the first-team squad for the start of pre-season training on July 5.
