Kidderminster Harriers' slim hopes of signing Peterborough defender Exodus Geohaghon were today diminishing by the minute.

Posh are desperate to rid themselves of the giant centre-half who was transfer listed at the end of last season, only four months into a three-and-a-half year contract at London Road.

But Football League clubs were today circling the former Kettering Town star, with Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry confirming the wheels are already in motion.

He said: "I've spoken to two league clubs about Exodus and he is having talks with one of them himself."

Harriers find themselves well down the pecking order in the race to sign Geohaghon and a permanent deal is out of the question in any case, as Peterborough want a fee and a sell-on clause for the player.

But the only trump card could be new Aggborough assistant boss Gary Whild, who brought him through when manager at Redditch before selling him on to Kettering in 2008, after a low-key start to his career at Sutton Coldfield Town and Bromsgrove.

The player is also from the West Midlands, born and raised in Birmingham, although Harriers boss Steve Burr is refusing to get too excited about the prospect of his signing.

He said: "As much as we would like that sort of player, it's going to be a long shot.

"It's one of those where we will have to see who comes in for him, and because the lad has had a taste of the Football League he is going to want to stay there.

"But you never know, Gary has obviously had him before and it might be one of those sort of things."
