Midfielder Mark Bradley has been handed an international stage to place in the shop window to land a new club after being released by Walsall.

Bradley, a home-grown utility player, was one of seven released by the Saddlers at the end of last season.

But the 22-year-old is still valued by Wales - and has been called into their squad for Sunday's prestige friendly against Croatia in Osijek.

Wordsley-born Bradley is one of four graduates from the Wales under-21 side promoted by manager John Toshack to the seniors to cover injury withdrawals.

Villa's James Collins is among six players to have pulled out of the game since the squad was announced.

Bradley, still looking for a new club, was on duty for the Welsh under-21 team beaten in Austria on Tuesday night.

A former boss back at the Banks's Stadium, Colin Lee, has also been placed on gardening leave by League Two club Torquay, where his chief executive contract has been terminated in emergency measures to save money.

The club is expecting a loss of around £600,000 over last season.

Lee has been in the post at Plainmoor for three years.
