Stafford Rangers' Player of the Year Tom Thorley has given the club a boost by admitting there is a good chance of him staying at Marston Road.

The midfielder has been a near ever-present since joining on a permanent deal from Stoke last summer, after originally coming to the club's attention through three months on loan in 2008/09.

Thorley is settled at the club and wears the badge with pride as a hometown player, having turned down more lucrative terms at Worcester to rejoin Rangers.

The youngster turned 20 last month and is one year into a sports science degree at Worcester University, planning to head off on holiday with his girlfriend when his studies are over in June.

So it will be next month before Thorley makes a decision on his future, before the players return for pre-season training on July 1, but the early signs look as if the playmaker is going to stay.

He said: "Like every player, I will just wait and see what happens really, it's that time of year. To be honest, I have got that much university work on at the moment that I haven't given it a second thought. I just want to get that out of the way, and then in June I will sort out what is happening.

"There's a good chance of me staying. It's been perfect at Stafford for me so far, being my hometown club and fits into my way of living at the moment. The manager is keen to get me signed up for next season, so I know I am wanted.

"But I will wait to until an offer is put to me before I make a decision."
