Kidderminster Harriers have signed AFC Telford defender Lee Vaughan - and then turned towards a move for Stalybridge Celtic midfielder Keith Briggs.
The club confirmed the capture of the highly-rated 23-year-old yesterday, after the former Walsall youngster made his wish clear to leave the New Bucks Head at the end of the season last month.
Now the focus turns to former Stockport and Norwich player Briggs, who was manager Steve Burr's captain in his last post at Stalybridge and could become the first player to follow his old boss from the Bower Fold to Aggborough.
The Harriers chief also confirmed talks with an unnamed striker released from a Football League club, which could be former loan signing Northern Ireland under-21 international James Lawrie after his release from League Two club Port Vale.
Transfer activity is certainly hotting up at Aggborough but, for now, Redditch goalkeeper Danny Lewis on Monday and Vaughan are the only ones in the bag.
Nonetheless, the manager could not contain his delight at the latest capture of an England C international.
He said: "Lee is a player I have looked at for a number of years and I am surprised he has yet to move back up into the Football League to be honest.
"I know that one or two clubs were interested in him, but as soon as I spoke to him about coming to Kidderminster he had made his mind up.
"He is someone who loves to get forward and join in the attack, but is also a solid defender and that has always impressed me.
"The lad is a good, all-round athlete."
