Aston lightweight Chris Truman is out of his next planned fight at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on June 6 after suffering a suspected cracked rib.

The 25-year-old went down with the injury after falling over while on a training run this week and, after consulting with his doctor, has been advised not to carry on with his preparations for his next bout.

Truman had been paired with Dan Carr in an intriguing undercard battle, pitting the unbeaten West Midlands fighter against a one-fight pro who floored Liam Richards on his debut before fading to lose on points.

Melksham-based Richards is no mug either and co-headlines the Civic bill against Cradley Heath's Chris Male for the vacant British Masters featherweight title, but found Carr a real handful in their bruising encounter in Swindon on April 23.

The absence of 'the Trumanator' probably spells the end of the Trowbridge prospect's involvement on the show as the 'away' fighter, leaving Carr kicking his heels back in Wiltshire.

And it adds injury to insult for his opponent, who was looking to get his second fight of the year under his belt after edging a four-rounder with experienced Londoner Johnny Greaves at the Civic in March.

A return to action is unlikely to come anytime before the autumn but, with an unblemished four-fight professional record to protect, Truman believes it's the right call.

He said: "I can still run, but at the minute I can't punch when I turn my body and it's affecting my breathing as well.

"The doctor reckons it will take four to five weeks to fully heal."

For tickets, call the box office on 0870 320 7000 or promoter Paul 'PJ' Rowson on 07976 283 157.

The 10-fight show will also be broadcast online live on pay-per view at a cost of just £2.99, through Hatton TV at www.brandhatton.com.
