Reid not finished for Rangers yet
Stafford Rangers winger Levi Reid insists his goal return for the season is not over yet after admitting there should have been a far better return for his efforts.
Stafford Rangers winger Levi Reid insists his goal return for the season is not over yet after admitting there should have been a far better return for his efforts.
The wide man provided the feel-good factor by taking his tally to five in Saturday's 2-1 win over Gainsborough at Marston Road, the last home game of the campaign.
But Reid was looking to hit double figures for the season and - barring a miracle - will not reach his target before the summer.
The 26-year-old has been deployed on the flanks ever since returning to the club for a second spell last August, and feels it has disrupted his goalscoring return with emphasis on providing rather then finding the net.
With that in mind the hometown winger is reasonably happy with his form, and is happy to carry on doing whatever job is needed for the team.
He said: "I should be in double figures really with the amount of chances I have had, but on the whole it hasn't been too bad. I am playing out of position on the wing, central midfield is where I feel at my best but the gaffer has asked me to do a job there and I have done my best.
"Personally, I am pleased with how the season has gone."
Rangers now make the long trip to Workington for the Blue Square North curtain call on Saturday, and with a win could better last season's finish of 18th going into play two places above.
After finishing at home on the right note, Reid and Co are now looking to do the same on the road.
He said: "It was a good end to our home games, now it's about finishing as high as we can in the league. If we can get maximum points from the last game we would improve on last season's finish, and that would be a positive to take into the summer.
"We have got to professional and finish the job properly. We don't fear anyone, because if we turn up on the day we are a match for anyone in this league."
