Manager Chris Brindley has urged Stafford Rangers to show how far they have come on their own patch in their final home game of the season against Gainsborough.

Brian Little's Trinity come to Marston Road in the penultimate game of the Blue Square North campaign, before Rangers head to Workington for their curtain call next weekend.

Brindley's men need a win tomorrow to better last season's home record, in the 20th game as hosts rather the usual 21 due to Farsley Celtic being booted out of the league.

Rangers scored six wins, five draws and 10 defeats on their own ground last season - but with a win could make it six wins, seven draws and seven defeats as hosts this term.

The club are also locked in 18th place - their finishing spot last time round - and with three points could climb as high as 14th going into the final day, with safety in the division already in the bag from last weekend.

It's been a tough old season, but the manager is keen for his team to finish on the right note.

He said: "We knew what it was going to be like when we started. It's been a struggle but we have survived and we live to fight another day.

"But it's important that we go out at home with a good performance, because there are still points to play for.

"If we can get a couple of places higher with a home win, we will be happy to do that.

"Our form on our home ground has been improved this year, we have been a little bit more open and have scored a lot more goals but have conceded more as well.

"There have been some poor games, there is no getting away from that, but our home record suggests that on the whole it has been better to watch this year."
