Harriers will do Boro no favours
Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr has told Stevenage to expect no favours as the title-chasers look to seal their place in the Football League at Aggborough.
Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr has told Stevenage to expect no favours as the title-chasers look to seal their place in the Football League at Aggborough.
Boro come to town tomorrow knowing that a win, regardless of what second-placed Luton manage at home to Altrincham, would be enough to seal top spot with two games to spare.
They face a Harriers side still drawing their breath from last night's 2-2 draw at Hayes & Yeading, who will take to the field less than 48 hours after their last match.
But Burr and his players will still be looking to steal the thunder of the champions-elect, having been turned over in the FA Trophy semi-final by their visitors with a defeat that practically ended their season last month.
And the manager has ordered his dead-on-their-feet troops to suck it up and go again, because they have a duty of care to Luton.
He said: "I wouldn't call it revenge but nobody does us any favours, so I want my players to make sure that Stevenage have to fight all the way to the title.
"But we are pretty weary, very leggy and have got a tired camp at the minute. For us to be playing tomorrow is pretty unfair on Luton, in my opinion, because we are playing a team that they really need us to beat.
"It's an advantage for Stevenage, without a doubt, but that is the way it is."
Harriers' point on the road last night gave them a point cushion in 10th place over Wrexham just behind, although Cambridge and Altrincham could leapfrog them both is results go their way tomorrow.
Twice Burr's men had to come from behind to Scott Fitzgerald goals - who was later sent off - with equalisers from captain Chris McPhee and defender Martin Riley.
The manager added: "It was a typical end of season game really - pretty non-eventful from out point of view."
