Kidderminster Harriers have made their first move for next season ahead of the trip to Hayes & Yeading by offering top scorer Brian Smikle a new contract.

The 13-goal winger joins up with the squad to go to London today as the first player to be offered terms for 2010/11, with his current one-year deal set to expire at the end of the campaign.

Smikle will now mull over an offer for a fifth season at Aggborough, but manager Steve Burr has warned him not to drag his heels.

He said: "We have put the offer out there and ultimately the decision rests with him, in regards to what he would like to do.

"But we have made it clear that we need a decision quite quickly, so that we can move on depending or not he feels the offer is favourable to him."

Harriers head down south for tonight's game without wingers David McDermott and Marc Goodfellow, who are out with ankle ligament and groin injuries respectively. In the case of McDermott, his season appears to be over.

Burr must also assess defender Martin Riley along with midfielders Dean Bennett and Lloyd Kerry, but are hopeful right-back Duane Courtney will be fit after an ankle problem.

The manager is continuing to juggle his side for the four games left, and believes the season might be starting to take it's toll on the squad.

He said: "We have picked up a few little niggling injuries, so we will have to take a closer look at one or two of the players right before kick-off.

"With all the travelling we have done just lately, it has taken a bit out of the lads so we have been having to keep training as short and sharp as possible."
