Stafford Rangers duo Ross Davidson and Danny Glover have been urged to play their way back into the Football League by becoming star attractions at Marston Road.

The 20-year-old loan signings have already been told they will be released by League Two outfit Port Vale in the summer, and are facing up to life outside of the club where they came through the youth ranks to make 67 first-team appearances between them.

A worrying summer trying to get a new place to play lies ahead and Rangers winger Levi Reid knows what that feels like, having himself been a homegrown product at Vale Park and going on to play for the first-team before his release in 2005.

That summer, the wide man headed to his hometown club and re-invented his career at Marston Road, with his two seasons at the club ending in promotion to the Blue Square Premier through the play-offs, before a surprise chance to go back to the Football League came up with Macclesfield in 2007.

The now 26-year-old has pointed to his history as an example of what triumph can come out of adversity by producing the goods on the pitch, and has told his young team-mates not to let their heads drop.

Reid said: "All you can do in that situation is keep your head up and get a club sorted as soon as possible, so come pre-season you can just crack on again. It's natural to feel a bit lost, but you have just go to believe in yourself wherever you end up playing.

"They are both decent lads, and I don't see why they can't play in the Football League from what I have seen of them at Rangers in this short time. It's a lot harder at this level, it's certainly a lot more physical and it's a good learning curve for them.

"People are always watching in football and if you are playing well, wherever you are, you will get some interest."
