Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr will target a proven goalscorer in the summer after admitting that the club haven't replaced Matthew Barnes-Homer.
Barnes-Homer left Aggborough last November for Luton in a big-money deal, for a fee believed to be close to six-figures, after 35 goals in over 100 appearances and nine at that point in the Blue Square Premier season.
Since his departure and Burr's arrival to replace Mark Yates as boss in January, Harriers have depended on goals from midfield and the wide areas to get them through, with Brian Smikle leading the way with 13 while captain Chris McPhee reached 10 with both the goals in Saturday's win at Gateshead.
Striker Robbie Matthews has eight but has been in and out of the side, while Damian Spencer had two before going back to Kettering at the end of his three-month loan spell in January, but borrowed striker James Lawrie has netted just once while Adam Boyes went back to Scunthorpe without scoring.
Burr has tried out a number of options to shoulder the scoring burden up front but feels fresh blood is needed, and has put a hotshot forward at the top of his shopping list come the end of the season.
He said: "Barnes-Homer doesn't seem to have ever been replaced, because no-one has been in and around the goals since he left the club, apart from Brian Smikle. It's going to have to be something that is top of my list to address in the summer.
"What we are missing is a front man who can put the ball in the net - you can have all the coaching manuals in the world but it isn't going to put desire into people to get on the end of things.
"But goalscorers don't come cheap, that is the problem."
