Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr will be looking to strike another deal next week to keep striker James Lawrie at Aggborough on loan from Port Vale.

The Northern Ireland under-21 international is due back at Vale Park after Saturday's FA Trophy semi-final second leg at Stevenage, where Harriers face a seemingly insurmountable task trying to pull back a 5-1 defeat from the first leg.

Lawrie started his first game and scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 defeat at Luton on Tuesday night, after spending most of his month with the Blue Square Premier club on the bench.

A mix-up in registration prevented him from playing at Oxford in the last round of the FA Trophy, while the 19-year-old also spent time away from the club playing for his country in San Marino.

In the end, Harriers fans have not seen as much of the player as they would have liked but Burr is hoping to remedy that, and will ask opposite number Micky Adams at Vale after the weekend to extend his loan.

The manager said: "If I can keep him I would like to, we will have to look at it and see where we are.

"It was his first start for us on Tuesday night, he took his goal well and I thought he had a good game for us. He has had to wait for his chance, through no fault of his own, and has understood the situation that he needed to be patient.

"But there's nothing better than starting a game and scoring a goal, and his attitude has been spot on throughout."
