Stafford Rangers captain Nick Wellecomme is gunning for Northwich Victoria on Saturday after insisting there will be no hangover from his four-game absence from the side.

The 10-goal top scorer is expected to be recalled in attack for the Blue Square North clash, after sitting out with a back injury and then serving a three-match ban for a red card at Blyth Spartans.

Wellecomme also played for the reserves on Tuesday night to get him razor-sharp for his return, and is now focussed on adding to the 10 league goals already racked up this season.

And the talismanic forward is looking to come back with a bang on Saturday.

He said: "I have missed it, I hate not playing so now I am back hopefully I can bring something a bit different to the team. I have kept my fitness up and I have been doing lots of extra work as well as training with the squad, but I have only been out for a couple of weeks so I won't have lost that much.

"Now I am back, I will be looking to get some goals and keep going until the end of the season. As striker you want as many as you can, there are nine games left until the end of the season and we are still in a bit of a dogfight."
