Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr has led the tribute from Aggborough as the football world continues to mourn the loss of popular boss Keith Alexander.
The 53-year-old passed away after arriving home from leading Macclesfield in their League Two match at Notts County on Tuesday night, with the exact cause of his death yet to be disclosed.
But the Moss Rose boss had only recently returned to work after a period of illness brought on by a prolonged bout of hiccups, and had suffered a double brain aneurysm when managing Lincoln in 2003.
His long-standing in football in non-league and the Football League has led to a flood of tributes to a popular figure among fans, managers and players alike, to a man who started his playing career at 17-years-old in 1976 and had been in the game ever since.
Burr had come across him countless time as a player while playing his trade for Stafford Rangers and mainly for Macclesfield in the 1980's, while Alexander was a seasoned non-league campaigner at the likes of Kings Lynn, Grantham and Kettering.
And the Harriers boss is saddened at the loss of an old friend and a real footballing man.
He said: "I knew Keith well and he was a top guy - the type of man that everyone in the game thought very highly of. He was always very helpful to me, obviously this is very sad news and a big shock."
