Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr admits Saturday's defeat of Histon has merely cancelled out a deficit with the club resigned to losing three points.

Friday's decision to dismiss Chester City from the Blue Square Premier means Boxing Day's 2-0 home win against the Blues will count for nothing, as the disgraced club's league record for the season is to expunged.

Chester do have a right of appeal but, after failing to even attend Friday's ruling, are not expected to act upon it.

Every club in the league have played them at least once and second-placed Stevenage are going to be among the worse hit, having taken six points against the Deva Stadium outfit.

The decision does not take effect until the right of appeal period has passed, but Burr - speaking after a 3-0 win at Aggborough on Saturday - is braced for the worst.

He said: "The reality of it is that we are three points down, I am resigned to that to be honest. It's disappointing for all of us, because it's affecting a lot of other things.

"How this has been allowed to happen is for other people to answer, but the writing has been on the wall for Chester for a while."

Back at Aggborough and Harriers were this morning putting the finishing touches to deals for two new players, with Redditch midfielder Jack Byrne due to sign later this week and Scunthorpe striker Adam Boyes arriving on loan until the end of the season.

Burr, who will still allow Byrne to play for his club at Stafford Rangers tomorrow night, has pinpointed the youngster has one of the future.

The manager said: "We are getting him now with a view to next season, he's a player I have admired for quite a time."
