Kidderminster Harriers captain Chris McPhee will treat every game ahead like a cup final as the midfielder celebrates the anniversary of his arrival at Aggborough.

This week marks a year since the 26-year-old breezed through the door after leaving Weymouth to come to Worcestershire, originally on a short-term deal until the end of last season which was added to with a two-year contract in the summer.

The team went 14 games unbeaten after his arrival with McPhee shining in the middle of the park, but two damaging defeats in the last two games of the campaign cost them a play-off place.

Taking the armband in the summer after Mark Creighton left for Oxford, the former Brighton player has led from the front under former boss Mark Yates and his successor Steve Burr, as Harriers again chase a play off place and an FA Trophy final at Wembley after reaching the semi-finals.

That is the only immediate chance of a cup final, but McPhee himself believes every game should be treated with that importance - starting with Saturday's Blue Square Premier visit of Histon.

He said: "We've definitely hit a bit of form and we're full of confidence, but we have got to make sure that every game between now and the end of the season is a cup final, because we still have to go away to the likes of Luton and Mansfield and win to make sure we're involved in the play-offs.

"We are always doing the right things and now, given the form we are in, winning is definitely a habit."
