Stafford Rangers manager Chris Brindley believes his side have had the "kick up the backside" that will motivate them to continue their league resurgence against Hyde.

Marston Road was left reeling on Tuesday night as the hosts and last season's beaten finalists were dumped of the Staffordshire Senior Cup, in a 4-0 defeat to a Chasetown side plying their trade two levels below in the Unibond League Division One South.

But in the Blue Square North Rangers have lost just once in their last six games, a run they will be looking to build upon tomorrow hosting a Hyde side still in relegation trouble but showing better form after back-to-back home wins in the league.

But the Tigers don't travel too well, having won just one of 11 games on the road this term.

For Brindley's men it kicks off a sequence of four games in the next 10 days taking in tomorrow, a trip to Farsley on Tuesday followed by a home double-header against Alfreton next Saturday and Redditch three days later.

And the manager wants no repeat of Tuesday's drubbing.

He said: "We have to draw a line under that, it was a poor performance but our league form has been excellent. These last six games in the Blue Square North have gave us a good chance of staying up, and it's in our own hands to build on that.

"We were put in our place the other night, we didn't show the heart and desire that we have done in recent games, so I am hoping that will be the kick up the backside the players need to continue working very hard.

"Hyde have won their last two so it won't be easy, but we are starting a run of games that we need t0 take points from."

Rangers again miss left-back John Patrick, who is about a week away from a return after a knee injury, with Richard Vauls set to continue in his place.

Tony Dinning may also return in midfield after being rested in midweek.
