Kidderminster Harriers have handed defender Marcus Bignot a return to Aggborough and brought in goalkeeper Ross Atkins on loan for a month from Derby County.

Bignot returns to the club on non-contract forms some 13 years after leaving for Crewe, having established himself in the Football League with Bristol Rovers, QPR, Oldham and Millwall, who released him at the end of last month.

Atkins is the mystery goalkeeper earmarked earlier this week to replace the injured Dean Coleman, who needs a groin operation, but Harriers had to wait until the 20-year-old finished a loan spell at League Two Burton Albion yesterday to complete the deal.

The former England young international is still awaiting a first-team appearance, but is now thrust into the first-team picture at Aggborough.

Boss Burr is pleased with his two new recruits.

He said: "Marcus is a good player and we are a bit light on numbers at the moment, so obviously it gives us good cover at the back and he can play in midfield as well. I know him anyway, I had heard he was released from Millwall and he's a local lad who knows the club.

"We have taken Ross for a month as well and we are pleased to have him, because it was such short notice to get anybody in.

"Both players will be in the squad to go to Oxford on Saturday."
