Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr has hailed matchwinner Damian Spencer after the super-sub saw off Forest Green - but the striker is leaving Aggborough.
Burr revealed on Friday that the big forward's second month at Aggborough will be his last, after negotiations broke down with league rivals Kettering on a deal to keep him until the end of the season.
Spencer then proved his worth on Saturday's by climbing from the bench to replace Robbie Matthews and net the winner, as the team ran out 2-1 winners in the Blue Square Premier.
The striking ranks will now welcome Northern Ireland international James Lawrie on loan from Port Vale for a month, while Aaron Farrell has joined local rivals Worcester City after his release last week.
And Burr can still call upon Spencer for the next five games in a frantic February and early March but admits, when his departure comes, the experienced frontman will be missed.
The manager said: "That is what you want, subs to make an impact, and Spencer did that for us. The lad has done well, we are pleased with him. It's a shame he is leaving us, but it's one of those things and we can't do anything about it.
"As for James, he is with is for a month now and comes into contention for our game on Saturday."
The Harriers boss was relived to see what looked a point turn into three on Saturday, after Jonathan Smith equalised Brian Smikle's 12th minute opener just before the hour.
Burr said: "We started the game very well but the game fizzled out a little bit, I could sense they were going to get an equaliser which they did, and the game looked like it was heading for a draw. But we stuck at it and got our rewards in the end.
"When you score at this stage, it's a completely different dressing room when you come back in."
