Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has given his rejuvenated players a long weekend off after beating Tottenham.
McCarthy's men won't play again until a week on Saturday, when leaders Chelsea are the visitors to Molineux. The squad had a brief warm-down session today, after which they aren't due back in to Compton until early next week.
After completing the double over Spurs with a 1-0 win, which lifted them four places to 15th and a point clear of the drop zone, the manager believes his players have earned their reward of a few days putting their feet up.
He said: "I think the lads have earned a bit of a rest. It's about enjoying this result now and a few days' break, then coming back next week and preparing for Chelsea.
"It was damned hard work last night and we deserved it."
With nine days before the next game, McCarthy believes last night's result against Spurs will at least have put a smile back on supporters' faces – and allow him to show his face around the city again!
He said: "The result will certainly lift everyone – players, staff, fans and everybody at the club. I'll be able to go out and eat in Wolverhampton again for the next 10 days, have a bottle of beer and show my face without having the soup spilt on my lap!
"It will be all nice for the next 10 days and then we've only got Chelsea coming up, happy days!
"I'm sure we'll all be feeling a lot better than we were on Monday morning."
McCarthy insisted that his team deserved their victory, despite a couple of scares.
He said: "I think we had a bit of good fortune on a couple of occasions when they didn't catch things right after they broke on us. But all in all it was a very good team performance and we earned the result.
"Tottenham have a good team with a host of terrific individuals, while we have got a terrific bunch of lads who put a real shift in and work hard for each other."
