Another Graham Dorrans penalty handed Albion a vital away victory in a rollercoaster contest at Blackpool.

The Scot scored his sixth spot-kick of the season and his 12th goal overall with nine minutes to go at Bloomfield Road, after it was awarded controversially against Andy Butler for a foul on substitute Ishmael Miller.

Roman Bednar scored twice in the first half to give the Baggies a 2-1 lead at the break, but the unhappy Seasiders appealed for offside on both occasions.

Keith Southern had fired the home side into a 25th-minute lead and new signing Stephen Dobbie levelled at 2-2 on 80 minutes, just a minute before Albion's winner.

The Baggies had the better of the opening exchanges but they were shocked on 25 minutes, when Southern skipped past Graham Dorrans 25 yards from goal and was given too much space to drive a shot into the bottom corner.

But Albion responded well, levelling on 29 minutes despite furious appeals for offside by the hosts. Bednar nipped onto Chris Brunt's pass and rounded goalkeeper Paul Rachubka before finishing coolly.

Jerome Thomas had a 'goal' ruled out for offside for the away side, after finishing at the far post from Bednar's right-wing cross.

The Czech striker then went from provider to goalscorer and made no mistake from close range on 40 minutes, seizing on a perfect cross from full-back Gonzalo Jara to make it 2-1.

Albion almost increased their lead shortly after the break, when a Brunt cross was headed against the post.

Substitute Andy Slory then tested Rachubka with his first touch on his debut, firing wide with the target looking on.

There were close escapes for the Baggies too, first when DJ Campbell sent an overhead kick just wide and then when Dobbie weaved his way into the box and was only halted by a timely Marek Cech interception.

But there was no escape on 80 minutes, when Dobbie was handed too much time and space to collect a right-wing pass and hammer a shot into the bottom corner.

But Albion regained their lead within a minute, as substitute Miller broke through and referee Dave Foster ruled the striker was tripped by Andy Butler.

Dorrans kept his composure to fire home from the penalty spot.
