Harriers sign Goodfellow on loan
Kidderminster Harriers have added experienced Football League campaigner Marc Goodfellow to their ranks for the rest of the season in a loan move.
Kidderminster Harriers have added experienced Football League campaigner Marc Goodfellow to their ranks for the rest of the season in a loan move.
The winger, who can play on either flank, comes to Aggborough from League Two outfit Burton Albion, after Harriers beat off interest from league rivals Barrow where the 28-year-old had been on loan earlier in the season.
That was Goodfellow's first sojourn into non-league football after a decade spent almost exclusively in the Football League starting at Stoke before spells at IB Vestmannaeyjar in Iceland, Bristol City, Port Vale, Swansea, Colchester, Grimsby and Bury before moving to Burton in 2007.
But the cup-tied wide man will not be involved in tonight's planned FA Trophy third round tie at local rivals Worcester City - provided they can get the game on.
Saturday's match was postponed due to a frozen pitch and was ordered to be played tonight, but a 4pm pitch inspection has been called at St Georges Lane after further bad weather over the weekend.
Should the game fall foul of the weather again, it would leave Harriers facing two games in close proximity with a tough trip to second-placed Oxford United in the league on Saturday, then the cup tie at Worcester next Monday night.
And Aggborough boss Steve Burr is still smarting from the original cancellation.
He said: "I couldn't believe it, I was travelling down there and it was six degrees, the sun was out and I get a call five minutes from the ground to tell me it is off.
"When I looked at the pitch, down the one side in front of the stand where the sun had not got to it was firm. Safety reasons and all that type of thing nowadays means the referee probably made the right decision.
"But it won't take much for the players to be up for this one, as they were like a coiled spring in readiness for Saturday. It is a local derby, a big game with a lot of local pride at stake."
