Matthews out of Burr's home bow
Kidderminster Harriers striker Robbie Matthews is out of new manager Steve Burr's first home game in charge against Grays Athletic.
Kidderminster Harriers striker Robbie Matthews is out of new manager Steve Burr's first home game in charge against Grays Athletic.
The big forward has been ruled out of tonight's Blue Square Premier game with flu as Darryl Knights, a possible option to be moved up front from the middle of the park, prepares for a late fitness test after picking up a back injury.
But midfielder Dean Bennett could be fit to return after missing Saturday's 2-2 draw at Crawley with a groin problem, as the 33-year-old took part in training with the rest of the players yesterday.
Burr took a point from his first game in charge, but needed equalisers from assistant boss John Finnigan and captain Chris McPhee to force a draw.
Individual errors, especially by goalkeeper Dean Coleman for the first goal, led to the goals conceded but the manager refused to blame any individuals for the breaches at the back, as his search for a first win continues tonight.
He said: "I am looking forward to all of the games coming up, but we are at home tonight and it's a good chance for us. There is no easy games in this division, but Grays are struggling and got a real tanking from Oxford on Saturday.
"If we can continue how we finished on Saturday, we will be looking to take three points. The two goals conceded on Saturday came from mistakes, but that is something we share together as a team.
"We win, lose and draw together as a group."
Burr has also allowed young defender Zac Costello to rejoin Southern League Premier Evesham on loan for a month, where the first-year professional spent time towards the end of last year.
The manager added: "We have got five centre-halves at the club, so I would sooner Zac get out and play some games, and we will be monitoring his progress at Evesham over his time there."
