Kidderminster Harriers chairman Barry Norgrove has confirmed that the club are on course to have a new manager in place by the weekend.

The Aggborough board have settled on a six-man shortlist for the vacant hotseat and interviews have already began, with the process expected to be concluded before the team return to action at home to Lewes in the FA Trophy tomorrow night.

Norgrove remains tight-lipped on the names in the frame but confirmed that caretaker manager John Finnigan, who has taken the reins since Mark Yates left for Cheltenham before Christmas, will be interviewed.

Free agents Jim Harvey, Jeff Kenna and Tim Flowers have been linked with the job, along with Fleet Town boss Andy Sinton and Stalybridge Celtic manager Steve Burr.

Harriers expect to have their new man in place by the time they return to Blue Square Premier action at Crawley on Saturday, or at the very least have Finnigan confirmed as permanent boss.

The chairman said: "I have seen a couple of them today and hopefully by Wednesday we will come to a decision about who the new manager is going to be. We need to look at what they all want and vice versa.

"We are speaking to five people about the job, plus our caretaker boss John Finnigan. I won't disclose their names, because it's not fair on the applicants."

Former Wolves and England winger Sinton emerged as a surprise contender for the job last week, having cut his managerial teeth in four years with the Isthmian League Division One South outfit.

The 43-year-old still retains a West Midlands base in Solihull and has also completed his UEFA 'A' coaching licence, looking to move up the ladder as a boss.

Norgrove admitted that the club had received word that Sinton is interested in the job.

He said: "I won't say who is part of the interview process, but I can confirm that Andy Sinton has applied."
