Kidderminster Harriers winger David McDermott has been admitted back into hospital for treatment to solve the health problems that have plagued him for a month.

The 21-year-old has not played since December 5 at Stevenage after being struck down with what was initially a mystery illness.

McDermott was sent to see his doctor who referred the problem to his local hospital, where he was kept for a number of days as a series of tests took place to get to the root of the problem.

The player was then released and was instructed to rest at home by the club until he felt fit to play again, but he has now been re-admitted for further treatment.

It's appears doctors have established his condition and are following a course of treatment as appropriate, but his family and team-mates at the club face an anxious wait to see if the popular local lad can recover.

Caretaker manager John Finnigan is another concerned for his welfare, and has told the wide man that his health should be his only priority.

He said: "David has had to go back in for a few days, I am afraid, because his medication was not working. He has got to have a steroid injection, so I am told. He has got ulcers in his stomach and colon, which are causing him a lot of problems.

"We are just keeping our fingers crossed that he can get over it, obviously we just want him to get healthy for himself and his family, first and foremost.

"Then hopefully we can have him back with us again."
