Kidderminster Harriers caretaker manager John Finnigan has seen three of his loan players leave this week - but is hoping that striker Damian Spencer will return.

The Kettering frontman, Peterborough left-back Danny Andrew and Luton forward Ryan Charles are now back at their parent clubs after concluding their terms.

Andrew wasn't even due back until January 12 but Posh exorcised their recall option early, with the teenager now expected to join former Harriers boss Mark Yates at his new club Cheltenham.

Charles was only at Aggborough as part of the deal that took Matthew Barnes-Homer in the other direction to Luton in early December, and is unlikely to be available for loan again.

But Spencer is still out-of-favour at Rockingham Road, and Finnigan is hoping to take the experienced hitman for another month.

He said: "The chairman is having a bit of difficulty getting hold of people at the Kettering end, so we are still trying to sort it out. I would imagine that we will be able to do something with Damian, we are just waiting or his club to confirm that is fine with them, so we are in their hands at the minute.

"Ryan has gone back to Luton and he won't be coming back, because it was only ever meant to be a short-term deal. We needed numbers at the time, so I can't see that one coming back up."

The temporary boss also had words of praise for Andrew, who left Harriers with 10 starts under his belt and kept Lee Baker out of the team after the regular left-back returned from suspension.

If the youngster is reunited with Yates at Whaddon Road, Finnigan believes it will be another good move.

He said: "Danny will have a great future in the game and we all wish him well. If he does go to play for Mark at Cheltenham, he will have no problems playing at that level."
