Finnigan's first game in charge
Kidderminster Harriers caretaker manager John Finnigan takes charge of his first game with the first game of a double header against troubled Chester at Aggborough.
The 33-year-old stepped up from his playing duties to temporarily take over from Mark Yates on Wednesday with three Blue Square Premier matches on the horizon, starting with the visit of the bottom club today.
Then comes two away games in quick succession, Bank Holiday Monday's trip to Rushden & Diamonds followed by the return game at the Deva Stadium on New Years Day.
Finnigan can call upon all of the playing squad with the exception of David McDermott, who is not yet back to full fitness despite returning to training following a spell in hospital with illness.
But the winger is hoping to be back in action at some point over the schedule and the caretaker may even restore himself to the squad for the first time since December 1 as an extra midfield option.
The task in hand could be worse, Chester are in turmoil on and off the pitch and are seven game a win, leaving them marooned to bottom spot after a 25-point deduction at the start of the season for breaching FA rules.
But the new man in charge of Harriers will not be counting his chickens before they have hatched.
Finnigan said: "Chester have had their troubles, on and off the pitch, but they have got an experienced manager who has gone in there now to try and sort it out.
"Jim Harvey likes his teams to play attractive football and we like to do the same, so it should be a decent game. We won't be taking them lightly, that's for sure, because if it hadn't been for that deduction they would be mid-table.
"If anything, they might be confident of nicking a result here with the manager gone, so the lads will need to be prepared and it's my job to see that they are.
"We will prepare ourselves like we would for any game and at home we fancy our chances against anyone."
