Dinning a doubt for Rangers
Stafford Rangers midfielder Tony Dinning could be a doubt for Saturday's trip to Fleetwood after suffering a back injury in a minor car accident.
The 34-year-old, who works as a kitchen fitter, was in his work vehicle yesterday and suffered a collision which has left him in need of medical attention.
Former Wolves first-teamer Dinning, a veteran of 11 Football League clubs who has lived in Stafford since signing for Port Vale in 2005, will visit his doctor today and then by assessed by Rangers' medical staff at tonight's training session.
But the player admits the next Blue Square North match could come too soon to recover.
He said: "I could be out for Saturday, I had a bit of a bump in the van going to work yesterday and my back feels a bit tight. I am going to the doctors today, because it's very stiff at the moment. I need to speak to the manager on that one actually."
Dinning has brought a wealth of experience to the team since joining from local rivals Hednesford, in a holding role allowing the likes of Levi Reid and Jake Moult to bomb forward.
Rangers' have drawn both games since his debut and gave themselves a four-point cushion from the relegation places in 15th.
And the battle against the drop is one their most experienced player expects to win.
He said: "I haven't got the legs to run about like I used to, but fortunately with the role I have in the team there are other players who can do that for me. I reckon I can play on for at least another couple of years, and hopefully the experience I have can help put the younger lads here.
"I am enjoying my time at Rangers, I was never going to stay at Hednesford after the manager left for one or two different reasons so I came here to get fit and now I am getting first-team football with a good club.
"We will stay in this league, there is no question of that, it's just where we can climb to."
Dinning aspires to a managerial career of his own when he finally hangs up his boots, although the veteran insists that is not his motivation in moving to Marston Road.
He added: "I have done my coaching badges and, of course, if an opportunity came up then it would be something I would look it. I am not here looking to take the manager's job, that is not the case, but if i can help out in training that would be great for me and would hopefully help the squad."
