Rangers' warning for Droylsden

Stafford Rangers midfielder Tom Thorley has warned Droylsden there will be no repeat of the 7-1 hammering inflicted on his side earlier in the season when the teams meet again.

The corresponding fixture takes place at Marston Road on Saturday, with revenge the motivation for the home side after their heaviest defeat of the season at the Butchers Arms in early September.

Thorley played the full 90 minutes of that game as Rangers shipped four goals in the second-half, and a long campaign of struggle appeared to be in store.

But manager Chris Brindley has managed to steer his young charges to 15th with a-point-a-game ratio after 20 outings and, although they are not out of the woods yet, the outlook is brighter going into the festive period.

However, the pain of that day in Greater Manchester still rankles with Thorley and his team-mates, and the 19-year-old is determined to make amends.

He said: "We need to put that right, and there will be no repeat of that one that's for sure. It was a freak game, they played well but we were not 7-1 bad - it's just that everything they hit ended up in the back of the net.

"The message we would want to put across is that we are a different proposition now, we have just had a battling draw against Blyth Spartans and have come a long way since that game."
