Harriers set for new strike-force

Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates is set to unleash new strikers Damian Spencer and Ryan Charles in tandem for the first time when Tamworth are the visitors to Aggborough.

The two only joined late last week on loan until January and Kettering forward Spencer started Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon, with Luton youngster Charles introduced as a second-half sub.

But big frontman Robbie Matthews picked up a fifth yellow card in the game and must serve a one-match ban, so both are the obvious candidates to fill the two striking spots tonight (7:45pm).

The manager has no qualms about pitching them both into action tonight if it's the right call.

He said: "Robbie is suspended, so there will be that one change, and it will probably be Ryan who comes in to partner Damian. They are both good players, that is why we brought them here, so if they start together tonight I am sure they will do well.

"They have come in to help us and this could be their chance to shine."

Harriers will look to bounce back from Saturday's defeat, which was their first reverse in three games, on the back of a turbulent week where star striker Matthew Barnes-Homer was sold to Luton for a near six-figure sum.

Yates is refusing to let his players use that as an excuse, as the team suffered from inconsistency even with the England C international in the fold, and the manager knows that must change if the team are to seriously bid for a play-off spot.

He said: "Our only focus should be getting back on track after Saturday, where we were second best. We got beaten by the better team on the day and that happens - be it in the Premier League, in this division or in Sunday football.

"Sometimes you have just got to hold your hands up, try not to dwell on it and move on. That is probably where we are at the moment, we can beat anybody on our day but can also be beaten.

"We have got to find consistency if we are going to challenge at the top of the league, it's as simple as that. The good thing about this game is that we have an early chance to put that right, but we need to show resolve and spirit to bounce back tonight.

"Tamworth are a tough proposition but it's something we have got to tackle head on. We need to impose ourselves on the game and be better than we were last time."
