Merthyr 0 Halesowen 2

Prolific marksman Stefan Moore netted twice as Halesowen ran out comfortable winners on Saturday in the contest of two teams in administration.

Moore squandered a golden chance to put the Yeltz ahead after just three minutes when he uncharacteristically screwed wide in front of goal.

The Martyrs created little in the first half and it was Halesowen's David Blenkinsopp who jinked past two defenders before rifling wide midway through the opening period.

Halesowen took a deserved 35th minute lead when Blenkinsopp worked himself goal side of the last defender and ran clear into the penalty area before squaring the ball for Moore to tap home.

Early in the second half Simon Johnson forced home goalkeeper Andrew Delve to palm the ball away from his 20-yard free-kick.

Moore then wrapped up victory when he doubled the lead in the 61st minute by lofting over the advancing goalkeeper after latching onto Simon Johnson's threaded through ball. Yeltz soaked up late home pressure to maintain their run of clean sheets.

Nick Bussey made a fine double reaction save to deny Scott Armitage in the 75th minute and Armitage dragged a shot wide a minute later.

In the final minute Bussey parried away Steve Williams' long-range free-kick with Armitage only heading the rebound into Bussey's arms.

With the game entering stoppage time, Halesowen substitute James Johnson was sent off for a clumsy challenge that earned him his second yellow card since entering play just 17 minutes earlier.
