Wycombe 2 Walsall 3
Alex Nicholls' dramatic winner five minutes from time saw Walsall come back from two down to snatch a barely deserved victory at Wycombe.
The substitute drilled in just three minutes, after skipper Mark Hughes had brought the Saddlers level.
Steve Jones made it 2-1 on 55 minutes, but the visitors looked dead and buried at half-time.
Scott Davies' 40-yard free-kick caught goalkeeper Clayton Ince out 14 minutes and the on-loan Reading midfielder grabbed a second six minutes before the break, rifling home from 22-yards.
Dwayne Mattis went down sick for Walsall before the game and was replaced by Richard Taundry in midfield – who made his first start since pulling a hamstring at Tranmere in early September.
Netan Sansara continued at left-back with Jamie Vincent failing to recover from his calf injury, while Jones returned to the bench after illness but striker Sam Parkin was out with a back complaint.
Wycombe, with a fluid formation, impressed early as they attacked in numbers and took the lead after 14 minutes when Davies' free kick sailed over Ince.
Slick and precise the Chairboys' play belied their position at the foot of League One, while the Saddlers barely threatened.
Only some desperate and ropey defending prevented Wycombe from adding to their lead, before Davies grabbed his second on 38 minutes.
Craig Woodman and Matt Phillips worked a short corner to the midfielder who found the bottom corner from 22-yards.
The travelling Saddlers made their feelings known as their team capitulated and Davies almost grabbed his hat-trick, but his 18-yard effort was hacked off the line by Hughes.
It was one-way traffic with the visitors relieved to hear the half-time whistle.
After a sure-fire half-time rollicking from boss Chris Hutchings, Darren Byfield shot over before Jones made it 2-1 on 55 minutes with a cool finish from Matt Richards' fine pass.
It was a lifeline and they improved but the Saddlers were struggling to find a crucial second.
Harrold and Phillips both blazed over and Jones was denied by Scott Shearer's finger tip save eight minutes from time.
But from the resulting corner the visitors equalised, when Hughes curled in after Mark Bradley's shot was blocked.
Nicholls then completed an improbable turnaround on 85 minutes, when the sub latched onto Jones' pass and drilled past Shearer.
