Stourbridge defiant of staging cup tie
Stourbridge remain defiant they will host their FA Cup tie with Walsall despite a setback over their ground.
The Football Association will not allow the club to erect a temporary stand on the open side of the stadium.
But chairman Ian Pilkington insists the fixture will still go ahead at the War Memorial Athletic Ground in Amblecote.
The stadium is officially classed as three-sided, due to the club's ground-sharing agreement with Stourbridge Cricket Club.
Now the chairman and club officials are due to meet representatives from Dudley Council, West Midlands Police, the FA and Walsall Football Club.
Pilkington insists the Glassboys have the full support of the cricket club and would look at all possible ways of staging the game.
He said: "We can ask the question and look at all the options to stage the game. It will become clearer after the meeting."
Pilkington added that one of the factors which will ultimately decide the match's fate will be if it gets chosen for television coverage.
Club officials will learn tomorrow if it has been chosen as one of two live games on ITV. The game may also feature as extended highlights on a FA Cup round-up show on the channel, or as part of internet coverage.
Stourbridge could expect another £18,000 if they win the tie and £13,000 if they receive TV coverage, plus additional sponsorship revenue.
