Rangers sign Wooliscroft for Corby trip
Stafford Rangers manager Chris Brindley is set to hand a debut to Ashley Wooliscroft at Corby after completing his loan move from league rivals Fleetwood.
The 29-year-old, who can operate at right-back or in central midfield, has joined for a month with a view to a permanent move to Marston Road and goes straight into the squad for the trip to Northamptonshire tomorrow (3pm).
Wooliscroft started his career with Premier League Stoke, even making two first-team appearances for his hometown club, later going on to play for the likes of Rangers' local rivals Hednesford, AFC Telford and Stalybridge before joining Fleetwood in May.
Now the versatile player has arrived to add some experience to Brindley's young squad, starting against the club who handed his team defeat in their first home game of the season, former Premier League midfielder Gavin Strachan and Leon Mettam with the goals in August's 2-0 win.
Both will lead the home side's charge tomorrow, with former Nottingham Forest striker Jason Lee also in attack for the Steelmen.
Rangers, who pass a third of the Blue Square North season played in the game, go to the Rockingham Triangle aiming to halt a four-match winless run.
But the manager believes that his side are not far away from turning it around.
Brindley said: "We have just got to get stuck in again as we have another couple of tough games coming up. It's a poor run form we are in, we need to just keep working hard and hopefully it will turn for us. We are not a million miles away, there's a lot of criticism flying about but it's a tight league and things can quickly change.
"For me, we are not far off turning it around but we have to keep plugging away."
Rangers hope to welcome back midfielder Tom Thorley after flu and goalkeeper Bill Lumley after a knock in training.
