Wilson happy to play it anyway

Stafford Rangers captain Bobby Wilson has vowed to play anywhere for the good of the team and again lead the charge from the back in a switch from midfield.

The skipper was pushed back from the middle of the park and preferred to Andy Owens in the 2-0 defeat against Stalybridge last Saturday, playing alongside fit-again defender Emmanuel Udoji.

It's a position Wilson has filled on a number of occasions, normally due to injuries, over the course of the season since taking the captain's armband in the summer.

The combative 21-year-old has the nous to get stuck in, and is ready to go in where it hurts anywhere on the field for the team.

He said: "I don't mind playing anywhere, the manager has made the choice so that must be my best position at the moment. I have had a bit of a partnership with 'Manny,' which has been quite good, so it's going alright.

"I can stay at the back, where I have played my best football this season, and work with the other players to make sure we keep it tight."

Rangers regroup on the training field this week as they bid to end a four-match winless streak at Corby on Saturday, with the squad working on tightening up at the back after just one clean sheet from 15 games this season.

Wilson has warned that it could take a while.

He said: "We have been working on a lot of stuff in training, especially on our training and our shape, and this is the early stages of that. We need to get a real base together, that is where we are looking to improve and it will take time.

"There has only been one game in this new way that we are trying to play, we just need to tweak a few things and I am sure that we will be fine. There's no problem with us going forward, so if we can strike that balance it will all come together."
