McPhee's outside chance of return

Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates has revealed that captain Chris McPhee has "an outside chance" of returning from injury against Fleetwood on Saturday.

The skipper missed Saturday's 1-0 win at home to Crawley with bruised ankle ligaments, suffered under a challenge in the previous game against Luton that saw Rossi Jarvis sent off.

But McPhee is due to be assessed again today to gain a rough idea of whether the midfielder can be considered for this weekend's FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie, or whether the trip to Cambridge on Saturday week is a more realistic goal.

Either way, the 26-year-old's situation will be touch-and-go for a couple of days yet.

Yates said: "We will know more later today about Chris, we will have to see how he is. He has got an outside chance for Saturday, but unless he is right he won't play. We have to make sure he is right, he will train if considered fit enough and see if there is any reaction.

"It could be later in the week before we know if he will play."

Harriers take a break from league action with the visit of the big-spending Blue Square North side to Aggborough in the cup on Saturday, with a place in the first round proper up for grabs.

The manager has steered his side to seventh before the last game of October at Cambridge, largely thanks to two wins out of three over the month.

He said: "I am happy with where we are at this point, we always think we can be better but we are where we are. We have given ourselves a decent platform to build on and we have played some really good stuff of late.

"The players are listening to us, understanding what we are asking and playing the system very well."
