Wolverhampton's Steve Saville has got a surprise in mind in his bid to halt the Frankie Gavin phenomenon in Liverpool.

'The Wednesfield Bomber' takes on Britain's first World Amateur champion and new pro in an all-Midlands clash on the Sky-televised bill at the Echo Arena on October 30.

Despite his vast experience, the 33-year-old goes in as the underdog against his 24-year-old opponent - who has a spotless pro record of three fights, three wins and all by stoppage.

Saville has that punchers chance, as one of the hardest bangers around in his division of lightweight, although the veteran will step up to light-welter for this fight.

The Black Country slugger is just hoping Birmingham starlet Gavin is taking him lightly.

He said: "They have offered me good money to take him on. At the end of the day a fight is a fight, and I need one. I am really shocked they took it. His people probably look at me as an easy ride, boy are they in for a shock.

"I'm not bothered if they underestimate me, I have had that all my life. These youngsters, I am not being funny, have been in there selected fighters.

"Frankie trains hard, I know that, but we all train hard."
