Wolves team boss Peter Adams racked up his eighth league title with victory at Swindon.

Wolves will defend their Elite League speedway title under a team building limit of 40.95 points.

It marked the club's first success since 2002, despite losing on the night 52-41 in the play-off final second leg, instead prevailing 95-90 on aggregate on the back of their 16-point home win last week.

Lifting another trophy has made the manager hungry for more.

Adams said: "Hopefully we won't have to wait so long next time before I can add to the list.

"The decision to use Skornicki in the black and white hat was a brave move. I thought that ride there just killed them off. It left us just needing a three-all from one of the last three races.

"It's an absolutely terrific team which timed its run to perfection. I thought we outfought Swindon on the track and we out-thought them in the pits."

Adams had no doubt that referee David Robinson called the crucial heat 13 decision correctly.

He said: "I've seen the replay. There was contact and the referee called it absolutely right.

"We had a little bit of disagreement with this referee at Lakeside earlier in the season. He was the one who kept stopping the races every time a Wolves rider made the start. So he owed us a decision!"

Wolves sponsor Dave Parry hailed team spirit as the crucial factor that landed the title.

Parry, himself a former Wolves rider, captain and team manager, has seen pretty much all the sport can throw up down the years.

The man behind the club's title sponsors, luxury coach firm Parrys International, was delighted with the title triumph.

He said: "It's been the team spirit that has gone on throughout the year. They've looked for each other all the time.

"I think Ronnie Correy mentioned it - when you've got a team with spirit like that they help each other, look for each other. That must be worth 10 points.

"Bringing in Peter Karlsson while having youth and experience was just an excellent balance. They're just head and shoulders above the rest of the league, really.

"There was no way, in my opinion, that they could lose after that terrific performance at home."
