Rangers look for new Johnson deal
Stafford Rangers have voiced their wish to bring Jermaine Johnson back to the club after the defender returned to Derby at the end of his month's loan.
The 19-year-old had impressed at centre-half over September, starting all four matches of his time at Marston Road with two goals in the 4-1 at Harrogate.
But the former Chelsea schoolboy went back to Pride Park suspended, having blotted his copybook with a red card in the FA Cup replay defeat to Coventry Sphinx.
Rangers hope that, if a new deal can be agreed, Johnson can serve his suspension at his parent club, with dialogue continuing about the player's future.
Assistant manager Darren Read confirmed Johnson is a player who continues to be in management's thoughts.
He said: "Jermaine is one player who we would like to look at renewing his loan. We would love to keep him but it's down to Derby and Gary Crosby, their assistant manager. Him and our manager have a good relationship, and they are in constant talks.
"Derby rate him highly but whether they see him as being able to break into their first team, I am not too sure. But we were more than happy with what he did here, and it would be great if we can have him back with us."
