Koren prefers middle ground

Robert Koren today revealed his frustration at being played out of position but insists he will bow to Roberto Di Matteo's wishes.

The Albion midfielder has been played on the wings by head coach Di Matteo as Graham Dorrans and Youssouf Mulumbu impress in the centre.

And while the Slovenian captain says he wants to return to the middle he will continue to do what is required.

"I prefer to play in central midfield, that's my best position. Everyone knows that and I play in central midfield for the national team," said Koren.

"We've had a talk about it and he knows I want to play there but in some games we've had some injury problems in certain positions.

"Of course I want to do the best for the team and if the coach decides he wants to play me on the left or right wing I will always do my best for the team.

"I'm a player who can play in all the positions of the midfield so we'll see what happens in the future."

But off the pitch things are rosy for the 29-year-old with wife Mojca and two sons, two month old Tian and three-year-old Nal, expected to join him in England after the international break.

"Tomorrow I'll go away with the national team and then we'll come back together," he said.
