Harriers look to halt Wimbledon party
Kidderminster manager Mark Yates has warned Harriers will not get caught up in the AFC Wimbledon fairytale when they go to Kingsmeadow.
A rare meeting between the two clubs sees the Aggborough men travel to meet the new incarnation of the Crazy Gang tomorrow (3pm), who are riding the crest of a wave in the Blue Square Premier after four promotions since their formation in 2002.
The 'new' Wimbledon regularly attract crowds of 3,000 plus, with Harriers set to enter a cauldron of noise in Kingston-upon-Thames.
Yates - who faced the old Wimbledon as a player - is another who has been impressed with the rise of the new club, but insists all sentiment will be put to one side after the first ball is kicked.
The Harriers boss said: "I played against them once or twice as a player, and the new club have done very well. Terry Brown is a good manager, they have done brilliantly to get up into this league and have carried it on like I thought they would.
"It will be a big crowd down there, which will help their budget in this league, and it will make it difficult. They have got some good players as well, so we won't be taking them lightly. My players will know what they need to know about them.
"But, as we say, it's about us and how we play. We need to keep our performance levels up."
Goalkeeper Dean Coleman, Dean Bennett and Lee Baker are all expected to shake off knocks to play for Harriers while Gavin Caines is back from suspension, but winger David McDermott is a major doubt.
