Harriers boss' backing for Matthews
Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates believes striker Robbie Matthews is finally coming to the boil after opening his account.
The giant forward got his first goal for the club in Tuesday's 2-0 win at Wrexham, in his second straight start since returning from a calf injury.
It left the manager rubbing his hands with glee at the thought of Matthews' partnership with Matthew Barnes-Homer.
Yates said: "Robbie has been excellent for the last couple of games. He's a handful, now him and Matthew are building up a bit of a partnership hopefully we will continue to benefit from that.
"That will stand us in good stead, because that is what are going to need."
Less good news for the manager is the crowded treatment room at Aggborough that he is desperately trying to clear for Saturday's trip to AFC Wimbledon.
Goalkeeper Dean Coleman, Dean Bennett and Lee Baker are all nursing knocks and didn't train today, while David McDermott is a major doubt after being carried off on Tuesday night.
Yates added: "We have got a lot of knocks and the treatment room is full today. But I still hope to have almost everybody fit for the weekend. Even David has still got a chance for the weekend, but it's slim."
The Harriers boss also expressed his regret at Luton's sacking of manager Mick Harford, with the now-managerless Hatters due at Aggborough in the Blue Square Premier on Saturday.
He said: "I feel for Mick because I know him, but that's football. Luton are not my concern, as we have a big game on Saturday first."
