Norton fight date set after Hatton deal
Stourbridge's British and Commonwealth champion Rob Norton will fight in Manchester on November 13 after signing a five-bout deal with Ricky Hatton's promotional company.
The big-hitting southpaw and his 'First Team Promotions' camp confirmed the deal today with Hatton Promotions, with his first test set for the undercard of Matthew Hatton's world title shot against IBO welterweight champion Lovemore N'Dou.
The 37-year-old cruiserweight will either defend his Commonwealth crown for the first time or make a voluntary defence of the Lonsdale belt.
A decision between either the Manchester Evening News Arena or the Velodrome to stage the card is currently taking place.
Norton has been inactive since lifting the vacant Commonwealth and retaining his Lonsdale belt for the first time against David Dolan in February, and is looking to get busy again with the Hattons.
He said: "This deal is just what I needed, I have kept myself fit but I need to get back in the ring again, and for the Hatton's to bring this to me is great.
"This fight is no warm up, if I lose these then these five fights won't mean anything then. There are too many guys who have done that, looked too far ahead and come unstuck."
