Farnborough 4 Halesowen 1

Southern Premier leaders Farnborough inflicted a harsh defeat and continued to prove a bogey side in Halesowen's first game since entering into administration.

At the start of an open and entertaining encounter, Tom Breward revealed Halesowen's defiance by firing over the bar in the third minute before the hosts found their stride with goalkeeper Nick Bussey saving smartly from Bradley Bubb.

Yeltz have failed to win any of nine Southern League meetings with Farnborough and the hosts went ahead after 26 minutes, when the lively Bubb collected a long clearance and squared the ball for leading scorer Dean McDonald to fire home when free in the penalty area.

The home side doubled their lead when James Smith drilled home a low 37th minute shot from the edge of the area.

Halesowen showed their fighting spirit to deservedly pull a goal back in the 39th minute when Aaron Griffiths delivered an excellent cross for Stefan Moore to head home his 10th goal of the season.

Immediately after the interval, Griffiths then broke from midfield to fire a 25-yard drive just wide before Daryl McMahon's fierce drive was turned over the Halesowen bar by Bussey.

Boro finally turned the screw with two late goals as the visitors were reduced to 10 men.

Bubb's clever back-heel allowed Daryl McMahon to crash home Farnborough's third goal in the 79th minute and McDonald made it a flattering 4-1 from an 85th minute penalty, with Jamie Hood receiving a straight red card for bringing down Bubb.
