The 24-year-old middleweight faces the biggest fight of his career against Cello Renda at the Velodrome next Friday night, with the right to challenge for the Lonsdale belt on the line.

Not only does the reigning Midland champion take on his toughest opponent yet in the Prizefighter finalist, 'the Man' also has the chance to shoot up the ladder way ahead of schedule.

Horton has had to cancel a holiday and take leave from his day job as a bus driver to focus on the task in hand, having only been offered the fight late last week.

He said: "I was a bit shocked, to be honest, but this is my big chance and I aim to take it with both hands. If I win this fight, the door is open for me. This fight means everything to me, it's everything I have worked for.

"They didn't need to ask me twice, although I am still a bit shocked something this big has happened for me so soon."
